Approval workflows help teams review 1up-generated answers quickly and accurately. Here’s a simple guide to how they work.
Assigning answers to SMEs
Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) can help you review any answer generated by 1up. Click the Assign icon in the top-right of any question to route it to a teammate.
You can:
Assign to any Collaborator (you have unlimited Collaborators)
Set a question owner
Add a due date
Leave a note explaining what needs review
The assignee will receive a notification via email or Slack/Teams/Google Chat, depending on the channel you choose. Hovering over the icon will reveal all assignees:
Once a query is assigned, 1up will automatically change its status to Under Review. The assignee then needs to Complete Assignment or can respond to you via the Comment Stream.
Unhappy with the edits? Click Answer History to revert to an earlier version.
What Multi-User Assignment Allows
1. Assign a Question to Multiple People
You can add as many reviewers as needed to a single question. Each assignee will receive a notification and see the task in their Assignments view.
2. Designate an Owner
Every question can have only one owner.
The owner:
Has final approval authority
Oversees the answer’s completion
Cannot mark the assignment complete until all other reviewers finish or are unassigned
Optional: Push Assignments to Chat
Many teams send assignments to dedicated channels, such as #rfp-review, #presales, or #questionnaires, so reviewers see items immediately.
You can also assign items in bulk by selecting multiple questions or full sections at once.
Monitoring Progress in the Assignments View
Go to the Assignments tab to see:
All open assignments
Who they’re assigned to
Status and due dates
Reviewers can work directly from this view without opening the full questionnaire.
Assigning Reviews to External Partners
The Partner role allows you to collaborate with external teammates without exposing your 1up dashboard. If you invite partners to collaborate on a questionnaire (e.g., an RFP), they will only see the Assignments view, never your full workspace.
This keeps sensitive information protected while still allowing partners to complete their assigned answers.
