Reviewing & Editing Answers
As a best practice, we recommend reviewing all responses to make sure they are accurate.
Choose your preferred version: short, long, or a previous response from the Answer Library.
Got a bad answer? Here's how to troubleshoot.
Save Updated Answers to the KB
1up allows you to edit any response and save it to your Knowledge Base. To do so, edit the short or long answer fields and click Save to KB.
You can also tag a response before saving it. This is effective if you're dealing with product-specific answers that you want to reference in future queries. You can view all saved responses in your Answer Library.
Once you're done with your review, click Complete and Export. Make sure the Improve Knowledge Base option is checked off. Once you Export your answers, the Knowledge Base will update and all answers will be saved.
Assigning to Teammates
Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) can help you review any answer generated by 1up. Click Assign on any question to route it to a teammate. You can:
• Assign to any collaborator (you have unlimited collaborators)
• Add a due date
• Leave a note explaining what needs review
The assignee will receive a notification via email or Slack/Teams/Google Chat, depending on the channel you choose.
Once a query is assigned, 1up will automatically change its status to Under Review. The assignee then needs to click Complete Assignment or can respond to you via the Comment Stream.
Comment Stream
Collaborate with your team using the comment stream. When you assign queries with a note, that note will be visible here as well.
Note: Resolving a comment does not complete a task assignment.
Answer History
If you're unhappy with an edited response, you can revert to an earlier version. 1up auto-saves edits so you'll see all previous versions of a response here.
Excel Editor Mode
The 1up Excel Document Editor lets you review and edit your questionnaire exactly as it will appear before exporting. This makes it easy to verify formatting, update answers, and generate new responses directly within the spreadsheet.
When you open Document Editor mode, you’ll see the generated Excel file displayed in the same structure that will be exported.
This allows you to:
Review the layout of the spreadsheet
Confirm answers are placed in the correct columns and rows
Make edits before downloading the final file
Adjust Primary Answer Column
If your answers appear in the wrong column, highlight the correct column, right-click, and select Set Answer Column Here. 1up will automatically move all generated answers to that column.
Generate Answers for Missing Questions
If a question was missed or needs a new answer, you can generate one directly from the spreadsheet.
Highlight the column where the answer belongs
Right click the highlighted column.
Click Answer Questions.
This will generate answers to all of the queries associated with that column. Additionally, 1up will create Q&A pairs in the Answer Studio view so you can assign them to teammates for review.
Edit Answers Directly in the Document
You can edit answers directly inside the Excel document editor. Any changes you make will appear in the exported file.
This allows you to quickly:
Refine wording
Add missing details
Adjust formatting before export
The editor supports typical document editing behavior. You can adjust text, move content, and finalize the document as needed. Once your edits are complete, simply export the document to download the finished file.

Troubleshooting Wrong Answers
If 1up produces an incorrect or low-quality answer, you can quickly diagnose and fix the issue by checking sources, regenerating the response, and teaching 1up the correct answer.
Check the sources used
Click Related Sources to see exactly which PDFs, webpages, Q&A entries, or documents were used to generate the response. If the issue comes from a weak or outdated source, you’ll spot it here.
Regenerate the Answer
Click Regenerate to produce a new response. When regenerating, you can:
• Modify Tags
• Adjust answer length
• Add extra instructions
• Edit the query
Remove Bad Sources
If a source is consistently causing incorrect information:
• Click View Full Source
• Open it in the Knowledge Base
• Delete it if it’s not useful or accurate
Removing low-quality sources prevents future incorrect answers.
Teach 1up the Correct Answer
Once you know the right response, update it directly:
• Edit the short or long answer fields
• Click Save to KB
This teaches 1up the authoritative answer, overriding conflicting or outdated knowledge across your workspace. Learn more about managing your answer library.
