Connect GitHub to 1up

The GitHub integration pulls closed issues and pull requests from your repositories into the 1up Knowledge Base. Setup involves authorizing GitHub, installing the 1up GitHub App, and choosing which repositories 1up can read.

Connect your GitHub account

  1. Open the Knowledge Base in 1up.

2. Click +Add Knowledge in the top right.

3. Select GitHub from the list of knowledge sources.

4. Read the note in the Connect GitHub window. 1up only adds the content you select.

5. Click Confirm.

Authorize 1up in GitHub

  1. Click Connect in the Connect GitHub window.

2. Select the account linked to your GitHub login when the sign-in screen appears.

3. Click Continue to sign in to GitHub.

4. Review the access listed under Authorizing allows this app to.

5. Click Authorize.

6. Wait for GitHub to redirect back to 1up. The Select Issues from GitHub window opens.

Install the 1up GitHub App

Skip this section if the 1up GitHub App is already installed on your account or organization. Without it, the Select Issues from GitHub window shows a message instead of a repository list.

  1. Click Install it on GitHub.

2. Choose the personal account or organization where the app should be installed.

3. Select All repositories to grant access to every current and future repository.

4. Select Only select repositories instead to limit access, then pick the repositories you want 1up to read.

5. Review the permissions listed under with these permissions. The app requests read access to issues and metadata only.

6. Click Install.

7. Return to 1up.

Select a repository

  1. Click your account or organization name in the Select Issues from GitHub window.

  2. Click the repository you want to pull issues from. Only the repositories you granted access to appear in this list.

Import issues into the Knowledge Base

  1. Review the closed issues and pull requests listed for the repository.

  2. Click each issue you want to import. Selected issues appear as chips at the bottom of the window.

  3. Click the X on a chip to remove an issue from the selection.

  4. Click Upload.

5. Wait for the issues to appear in the Knowledge Base.
