Slack

Updated yesterday

You can connect Slack to 1up in just a few seconds. In your 1up dashboard, go to Ask 1up and click the Slack connector. Approve the integration when prompted.

If your workspace requires admin approval, your IT team may need to enable it. Once connected, 1up will appear as an app inside Slack.

How to use 1up in Slack

You can interact with 1up in two ways:

  • Tag 1up in a channel (e.g., β€œ@1up Do we support MFA?”).

  • Direct message 1up for a private conversation.

1up will answer using the knowledge in your workspace.

When tagging 1up in a channel for the first time, Slack will ask you if you want the bot added. Click Add Them - this only needs to be done once per channel:

1up will respond in Public and Private Channels as well as DMs to the 1up bot. Note that Slack does not allow bots to respond inside private DMs between two teammates, so tagging 1up there won’t work. Use a channel or DM 1up directly instead.

Controlling what 1up can answer in Slack

From your 1up dashboard, open Settings β†’ Slack Settings. Here, you can:

  • Whitelist or blacklist specific Slack channels.

  • Choose which Knowledge Base Tags 1up is allowed to use for Slack responses. This makes it easy to include topics like competitive intel or security content - or exclude sensitive internal material altogether.
