How it Works
1up is a Knowledge Automation platform that generates accurate answers to customer questions, RFPs, and DDQs. It builds a powerful Knowledge Base from your documents, website, and connected sources like Confluence or Google Drive. Your team can then use 1up to answer complex product, security, and compliance questions in seconds.
Knowledge Base
Your Knowledge Base contains every piece of information 1up uses to generate answers. 1up doesn’t know anything about the world. It only knows what you upload or connect. You can add PDFs, Docs, Excel sheets, completed questionnaires, web URLs, and sync content from connectors like Google Drive, Confluence, and more.
Ask 1up
Ask 1up gives you fast answers to short questions using only your Knowledge Base.
You can ask multi-part questions and use the Slack, Teams, or Google Chat integrations to ask questions from anywhere.
Automate Questionnaires
Upload Word, Excel, or PDF questionnaires and 1up will extract requirements and generate answers automatically. For web-based questionnaires, use the Chrome or Edge browser plugin to automate directly from the page.
Answer Hub
Answer Hub lets you expose 1up to internal or external users so they can get instant answers. You can add downloadable resources, gated documents, and FAQs—giving buyers and teammates fast access to the information that helps move deals forward.
Step 1: Upload 5+ Documents
1up needs a minimum of five high-quality documents to understand your product, services, and company. Go to Add Knowledge → Upload Documents to begin.
Recommended uploads include:
• Product documentation
• Security & compliance materials
• Previously completed RFPs, DDQs, and Questionnaires
Supported file types: Excel, Word, PDF, CSV, JSON, PowerPoint.
Do not upload:
• Empty files
• Documents over 500 pages (split these for best results)
Why uploading 5 files unlocks accuracy
Remember - 1up doesn't know anything about the world besides what you put into your Knowledge Base. Teaching 1up about your company will generate accurate answers and prevent hallucinations.
Adding URLs
1up will automatically crawl up to 1,000 pages from your company's website. You can also add subdomains and gated URLs such as your support portal. This is a great way to quickly add a lot of information to your Knowledge Base.
Go to Add Knowledge → URL
Enter the URL you want to crawl (e.g., your support site or help center)
Choose Single Page for one URL or Full Crawl to let 1up pull every link it finds on that page or domain
Optional: Tag Your Sources
Tagging documents and URLs allows you to categorize knowledge based on products or topics. When it's time to generate answers, you can instruct 1up which specific sources you want to use. If you don't set tags, 1up will use your whole knowledge base to generate answers.
Step 2: Ask your first question
Head to Ask 1up and ask anything about your product, policies, or documentation.
This helps you:
Validate what's in your Knowledge Base
Identify missing information
Get a feel for how 1up responds to different queries
If 1up doesn’t know the answer, it will tell you - so you know what to add next.
Step 3: Run your first automation
Head to Automate Questionnaires and upload an Excel, Word, or PDF file. 1up will extract requirements and generate responses for every answerable question.
Choose your preferred settings such as Language, Answer Length, and which tagged data sources you want to use from your Knowledge Base.
Within minutes, you should see answers to the questionnaires. Here’s a guide on how questionnaire automation works.
